# Meal Balance Reports

Meal balance reports were originally designed to indicate that a negative balance means money is due. The reasoning is that many schools once required all meals to be prepaid. They were not sending out bills, but a statement of their account balance. Just like a bank account, it doesn't show a negative number when you have money in it.
