How to Link Additional Students

Overview

  • Web accounts for in-household parents (User Type P) are automatically linked to all students in the family by FamID (students do not need to be linked manually to these web accounts). In-household parents are identified with a blue dot beside their name in the Desktop SIS. Click here for more details. 
  • Web accounts for out-of-household parents or contacts (User Type M) are explicitly linked to specific students. Your parent portal web account will initially have access only to the student that you signed up with. You can link additional students to your account by logging into your account and using the “Link Student to Account…” button on your home page.
  • When an in-household parent (User Type P) is changed to an out-of-household parent (User Type M), their existing web account will lose access to any students previously linked automatically by FamID. They can re-link specific students via the “Link Student to Account…” button. 
  • If a student is linked to a web account more than once, that is because the student was linked automatically to an in-household parent and the student was also linked manually to the same web account. Students linked manually can be removed by clicking the hamburger menu next to the student's name.

To link another student to your account, enter the required information and then click "Link Student".

You may need a Student Activation Code provided by the school. If the school has marked you as an outside parent for the student, then you will be able to leave the code blank. This Student Activation Code is the same code that the student uses to sign up with their own student portal account. Once you have this code from the school (or from the student), you can enter it in the “Link Student” dialogue, along with the child’s name and birth date.
