Article summary

1: Can Spanish translations be used for report cards?

Yes. SchoolWise provides the ability to add Spanish translations for some information but SchoolWise does not provide the translation service. See below for additional information.

Letter-Grade Report Card (desktop): Spanish text can be added to your custom report card template. Contact james@schoolwise.com for assistance.

Standardized Report Card (web)Spanish text can be added to your standards-based gradebook skill sets as described below. Click here for gradebook setup information.

A. English/Spanish text can be used for the Skill Group Name field. All standardized report cards will show the English/Spanish text from the Skill Group Name field.
B. I. English/Spanish text can be used for the Skill Text field. All standardized report cards will show the English/Spanish text from the Skill Text field.

B. II.  The Skill Detailed Description field can be used to add the Spanish translation. The report card will be printed using the Skill Detailed Description field (Spanish) instead of the Skill Text field (English).

To use this option, you must print the standardized report card with the Spanish Skills parameter set to Yes.

 2. Can Spanish translations be used for alerts?

Yes. SchoolWise provides the ability to add Spanish translations for your alert message but SchoolWise does not provide the translation service.

Optional Spanish messages are only sent to contacts if the language in the associated SchoolWise SIS family form is set to Spanish. Spanish messages can only be added for a telephone voice call or email. Cell phone text messages are available only in English because Spanish characters like ñ or accented characters are not supported in sms text messages. However, the full Spanish message for the telephone voice call and email supports all Spanish characters.

3. Can Spanish translations be used for online registration forms?

Yes. Online forms are created/published in English but can be auto-translated into Spanish using Google Translate (contact jevon@schoolwise.com for assistance if the translation needs to be edited). The parent portal will auto-translate the online form if the parent portal account preferred language is set to Spanish (this can be changed in the account settings). Forms that have linked Spanish documents (attachments) only show the linked Spanish documents (attachments) when the parent portal account preferred language is set to Spanish.
