Introduction
The SchoolWise Student Information System is a user friendly and cost-effective school management software that has several optional web-based modules which integrate with the main SchoolWise SIS database. Our web-based SIS is built on a Microsoft SQL Server that provides the ability to manage multiple school and multiple year student data.
There are two integrated SchoolWise applications: SchoolWise Desktop (required) and SchoolWise Web (optional). SIS data is synced between these applications but they do not contain all of the same features.
SchoolWise Desktop is the school administration foundation software of the student information system that runs on a Microsoft Windows (as such, it doesn’t run natively on macOS). School administration tasks are managed in this application.
SchoolWise Web runs in a web browser and thus can be accessed from any internet-enabled device (PCs, Macs, iPads, Chromebooks, Android tablets, smart phones, etc.). The SchoolWise Web is an optional application that cannot run without the SchoolWise Desktop administering the main SchoolWise SIS database. While the SchoolWise Web application is geared toward Teacher/Parent/Student use, it also has lots of built-in tools and reports for school support staff. Does SchoolWise run on a Mac?
SchoolWise Desktop only works with macOS using a 3rd party product
The SchoolWise Desktop application (full administrative software) is a Microsoft Windows based program. As such, it doesn’t run natively on macOS. But this doesn't mean that Mac users are out of luck. One of the best options for running SchoolWise Desktop (or any Windows program) on a Mac is to use a third-party software package called Parallels Desktop. This software will allow you to Run Windows and macOS simultaneously on a Mac. It is an annual subscription-based product and for full functionality, you may also have to obtain a Windows product key as well. They have free trial software and it is very easy to install and works well with recent-generation devices using macOS hardware.
SchoolWise Web works with macOS
The SchoolWise Web application does run natively on devices using macOS hardware since it's a browser-based software. SchoolWise Web also runs on any tablet, Chromebook , or any Windows OS with a web browser.
